TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Faculty of Tourism of the Pancasila University is cooperating with the University of Westminster in initiating an educational tour program about the community-based ecotourism in Mount Bromo area in Malang, East Java. The event will be held on February 4-10.
The program is called Bromo International Ecotourism Field School 2018, it will give knowledge and experience to visitors directly from the local community who participate through field study.
“Until now, there are nine foreign countries who have participated in this program, from England, Austria, Italy, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Colombia, and India,” said Dean of the Faculty of Tourism of the Pancasila University, Devi Roza Kausar.
According to the International Ecotourism Society, ecotourism is defined as a journey that is responsible for preserving natural areas, maintaining the public welfare, involving interpretation and education. It involves two sectors, namely culture and environment.
The Bromo Tengger Semeru area is one of the top national priority destinations known for its stunning natural charm, as well as being one of the best ecotourism destinations in Indonesia.
Deputy Marketing I of the Ministry of Tourism I Gde Pitana stated that it is a form of diversification of good tourism program to increase tourist arrivals.
