Ministry Revamp Airports as Number of Passengers Rises 11 Percent

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry's directorate general of civil aviation Agus Santoso stated that in the past two years from 2016 to 2017 the number of airplane passengers increased significantly. Agus went on by saying that the increase reached 11 percent.
“Based on our calculation, such a figure is not a small rate, but a huge increase,” Agus said in Cengkareng, Jakarta, on Saturday (3/2).

With this increase, Agus continued, Transportation Ministry also needs to keep it up with the increase in service quality and supporting infrastructure.
Several airports in Jakarta, Bali and Papua are now enhancing the quality of their services including physical infrastructure, services and security.
In Jakarta, the Ministry is building the third runway in Soekarno-Hatta Airport. In Bali, the Ministry plans to add parking stand for airplanes.In Papua, the Ministry is modernizing flight supporting equipment including automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) and several satellite-based landing tools.
