TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi stated that there are a lot of foreign private companies expressing interest to run airports in Indonesia despite the fact that cooperation scheme for management has not been designed.
"Involving private companies to run airports in Indonesia received positive responses from foreign investors. We have not looked into it, but a lot of them have expressed interest," Minister Budi said in Tangerang on Saturday (3/2).
It was stated after a meeting on airport services and safety improvement in Tangerang, Bali, and Papua was held.
Transportation Minister explained that the involvement can be in the form of concession, but not giving out ownership of the airports.
He exemplified the cooperation already implemented for Jagorawi toll road. In the cooperation, he went on, the management of the toll road is run in the form of cooperation between government and private company with limited concession.
