TEMPO.CO, Bangkalan - A student of state high school SMAN 1 Torjun in Sampang, Madura, persecuted his teacher, Ahmat Budi Cahyono, to death. The perpetrator with initials MH from class XI, surrendered himself to Sampang Police, East Java.

“The perpetrator surrendered at around 12:00 am,” said Chief of Sampang Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Adj. Commissioner Hery Kusnanto, on Friday, February 2.

The deadly incident started during an art subject that was taught by the honorary teacher Budi at around 13:00 pm, on Thursday, February 1.

At the time, the suspect (MH) was not paying attention in class and was warned by Budi which MH ignored. The victim then approached MH and scribbled his face with paint but the teenager became emotional.

MH attacked and hit the victim before being interfered by other students in the classroom.

The school principal, Amat, heard the commotion and summoned the victim to explain the situation before he let Budi go home.

In the afternoon, Amat heard the news from Budi’s family that Budi complained about the pain in his neck which became worse after he tried to sleep with the intention to relieve it. Budi soon became unconscious and his family fled him to Dr. Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya.

On Thursday night at 21:40 pm, the police received information from the Head of Education Department Sampang Jupri Riyadi that Budi had passed away. The doctor diagnosed that Budi experienced a brainstem death.
