President Cup: Bali United Sink Persija

TEMPO.CO, Gianyar - Bali United defeated Persija Jakarta 3-2 in the final match of Group D President Cup 2018 at Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Monday, January 29.

Bali United Coach Hans Peter Schaller said that his squad is playing very fast. “We've tried our best, it's a good result for us, I'm happy with the result,” he said after the match.

According to him, his squad played fast and good in defense. “The tactic was very effective, Bali United was good at muffling Persija attacks,” he said. However, Persija can take advantage of the ‘kick the ball off’ chance. “Persija played very well, it (free kick) is used well,” he said.

Bali United led the score with Ilija Spasojevic kick in the 9th minute. The Tridatu Soldier (nickname) squad added a goal in the 25th minute by Kevin Brands penalty kick. The second half, Persija was left behind. Bali United added score through Stefano Lilipaly penalty kick in the 53rd minute.

Persija minimizes the defeat score. Ivan Carlos managed to score a goal through a penalty in the 55th minute. Persija managed to increase the score again in the 66th minute by kicking the ball off of Jamerson Da Silva.

Coach Persija Stefano Cugurra Teco satisfied with the match outcome. “It has passed (preliminary round),” he said. According to him, the match in the President Cup is to measure and evaluate his squad ahead to League 1 and AFC competitions.

Bali United and Persija managed to qualify for the preliminary round. Bali United gained nine points from three matches. While Persija gained six points. Bali United in the top position of the Group D, Persija in the second position, and Borneo FC in the third position and PSPS Riau in the fourth position.
