TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State port operator Pelabuhan Indonesia I or Pelindo 1 will work on four industrial estates in Sumatra. The project's development has reached the land acquisition stage and the preparation of the Detail Engineering Design (DED).
Pelindo 1 president director Bambang Eka Cahyana said that the industrial estates will be located in Kuala Tanjung, Lhokseumawe, Kuala Enok and Dumai.
In Kuala Tanjung, Pelindo I has obtained a principle license for developing up to 3,000 hectares of land. According to Bambang, the industrial estate in Kuala Tanjung is also the second phase of the Kuala Tanjung Port project.
Bambang said several companies have expressed interests in to expand their businesses in the Kuala Tanjung industrial area.
"In Kuala Tanjung, we will develop an industrial estate with Inalum, BUMN Karya and other Pelindo companies (Pelindo 2, Pelindo 3 and Pelindo 4)," he said in a hearing with the House of Representatives' (DPR) Commission VI in Jakarta, Monday, January 23.
Pelindo 1 will also develop an industrial estate in Lhokseumawe, in cooperation with Pertamina and Pupuk Iskandar Muda, a subsidiary of Pupuk Indonesia. Bambang said the project's groundbreaking is scheduled for mid-2018.
In Riau, Pelindo 1 is cooperating with regionally-owned company Pembangunan Investasi Riau. The industrial estate will be located in Indragiri Hilir Regency, and serve as the base of downstream industries such as CPO, petroleum, coconut and rubber.
