TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A group of people today, Jan. 18, held an oration and asked Bambang Soesatyo to step down from his new position as the House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker. At the same time, Bambang Soesatyo was in an interview with reporters at the DPR`s Nusantara III building.

"Remove Bambang, replace Bambang," said a member of the group calling themselves Garda Alam Pikir Indonesia today, January 18.

The authorities at the DPR building immediately secured the group of five people. Besides shouting, they also wrote banner and leaflets saying "Bamsoet (Bambang Soesatyo) must be removed [from his position]."

Tarmo, one of the security officers explained that previously there was a group of people gave leaflets to the reporters during a doorstop with Bambang Soesatyo. Then, in the DPR's podium area, a number of people have cheered while holding the banners.

"There are five people and we have secured them," he said. Tarmo suspected that the group stalked Bambang and waited for him to start their action.

Garda Alam Pikir Indonesia said in its written statement that Bambang Soesatyo had involved in the driver's license simulation case, so they demanded KPK to examine the Golkar politician and remove Bambang from his position as the DPR Speaker.

Bambang Soesatyo has been in office as DPR Speaker for three days, replacing Setya Novanto.
