“The items kept here must be saved, it contains historical values. Someone asked the amount of loss it caused. It was priceless, it can’t be replaced by money,” said Anies.
Head of the museum Husnison Nizar explained several tools that were burned on the ground floor of building C. The fire also burned down the exhibition room that was filled with numerous maritime-themed items donated by embassies.
“I have asked about the items that caught fire. We have the documentation. Hopefully, we can create the replica,” governor Anies Baswedan said.
The Bahari Museum is located near Kampung Aquarium in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, a slum area that was once evicted by previous Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok.
