TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Jokowi assessed the renovation result of Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium showing the good results. It was seen during a friendly match between Indonesia versus Iceland on Sunday, January 14.
"We see it, from the side of the grass when it was raining, I think it is very good," said Jokowi after Indonesia vs Iceland match in SU GBK, Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, January 14.
In fact, Jokowi said, the same assessment also stated by Iceland coach. "The Iceland coach stated that GBK stadium is very big and great," said Jokowi.
Before the match, heavy rains come down in SU GBK. Even the rain continued until the first round at the start of the match. From the monitoring, SU GBK field was not inundated by rainwater. It makes the match uninterrupted because of the rain. The quality of the lighting field also looked very good.
The SU GBK inauguration conducted at 18:45, before the friendly match between Indonesian national team against Iceland. Luis Milla's squad had to accept the 4-1 defeat in a match that witnessed by about 36 thousand spectators.
GBK Renovation of the Main Stadium is done to face the 2018 Asian Games which will be held on August 18. The renovation has been done since August 2016 with a contract value of Rp769.7 billion with the contractors PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk and PT Penta Rekayasa Kerjasama Operasi. The construction management consultant is PT Deta Decon and PT Multi Karadiguna Jasa KSO with the contract value Rp10,2 billion.
"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, with the grace of God Almighty, in this afternoon, this major renovation of Gelora Bung Karno I declare its use officially," said Jokowi in his short speech through the VVIP balcony.
Besides Jokowi, the match was also attended by Deputy President Jusuf Kalla, a number of ministers, among them, Coordinating Maritime Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Human Empowerment and Culture Puan Maharani, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and National Police Chief General Tito Karnnavian. Also PSSI Chairman Edy Rahmayadi.
