Sandiaga Uno Targets Jakarta`s 7 Percent Economic Growth

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno stated that in 2018, Jakarta will reach 7 percent of economic growth. He revealed that he maintains optimism to meet a challenge from Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
"We actually set a target of 6.3 percent, but I want to give an ‘upside surprise’ by reaching close to 7 percent to meet a challenge from Sri Mulyani,” Sandiaga said on Saturday (13/1).
He explained that Sri Mulyani asked whether Jakarta can reach 7 percent. “I said nothing is impossible. It’s going to be really hard, but we will try our best."
Sandiaga Uno welcomed the challenge for a number of reasons. This year, Sandiaga Uno continued, Asian Games will be held in Jakarta and Mass rapid transit (MRT) is being built. "We also have potential foreign investments," he said.
Sandiaga Uno is optimistic that the growth supported by micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) through a program called OneDistrict One Center of Entrepreneurship (Oke Oce).
