TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) staged a protest at Facebook Indonesia office yesterday, January 12. The protest was held due to the taken down of FPI`s Facebook page by the giant social media company.
FPI managed several accounts on Facebook, include Habib Rizieq Syihab fanpage, Front Pembela Islam FPI fanpage, and Grup Pecinta FPI.

In addition to Facebook, FPI apparently had a number of accounts on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, which were also taken down.
The accounts of FPI's Instagram include @dakwahhabibrizieq, @Pecintahabibrizieq, @Ceramahhabibrizieq, @fpi_banjarbaru, @dpd_fpikalsel, and @dpd_fpi.
Their blocked accounts on Twitter are @DPP_FPI, @HumasFPI, and @syihabrizieq. The taking down of the accounts had been running since mid-January 2017.
Meanwhile, FPI's YouTube channels include "Singa Podium" and "Ceramah Habib Rizieq Syihab".
General-Secretary of FPI Jakarta Novel Bamukmin claimed that these accounts were very useful for Islamic sermon and humanity. "We use the account for humanitarian action, to serve the people for example, during a natural disaster, no matter where they are," he said, Thursday.
