KPK Nabs Fredrich Yunadi for Obstruction of Justice

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested lawyer Fredrich Yunadi for obstructing the investigation of Setya Novanto. "Intensive investigation is ongoing," KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said on Saturday, January 13.

Fredrich was named a suspect for obstruction of justice (OJ) in Setya Novanto’s case. He is alleged to violate Article 21 of Law No. 31/1999 on Eradication of Criminal Act of Corruption.

Febri revealed that KPK assigned a team to search for Fredrich on Friday. The team spread to a number of locations with a warrant for arrest.

Febri explained that the arrest is based on Article 17 of Criminal Law Procedures Code (KUHAP). The article stipulates that order for arrest is issued to a suspect allegedly committing criminal act based on sufficient preliminary evident.

Fredrich is Setya Novanto’s former attorney and along with a doctor of Medika Permata Hijau Hospital Bimanesh Sutarjo manipulated medical records after Setya’s accident on November 16, 2017.

In addition, KPK gained an evidence that Fredrich Yunadi reserved one floor of VIP inpatient facility, but only managed to get three rooms.
