Bekasi Reserves 11.5 tons of Rice to Stabilize Rice Price

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bekasi Food Security Agency has prepared 11.5 tons of rice reserves. This measure is taken to stabilize rising rice price in the past week.
"We implement this policy to deal with the rising rice price that hits Rp13,000 per liter for medium quality rice from the normal price Rp9,000 per liter," Bekasi Food Security Agency head Alexander Zulkarnaen said in Bekasi on Friday, Jan. 12.

Based on mapping report from the field team, he went on, the price increase occurred in two districts, namely North Bekasi and West Bekasi.
"We are still mapping out the incident, if the price doesn’t go down, we will distribute the rice reserves," he said.
Alex stated that the rice reserves will be distributed to low-income residents through a cheap market program. "Until now, we haven’t received reports from the two districts," he said.
