Opportunity to Become 2018 Asian Games Volunteers still Open Wide

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2018 Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) is still offering the opportunity for anyone to enlist as volunteers for the quadrennial sports event.

“We need no more than 20,000 volunteers,” said INASGOC Secretary General Eris Herryanto on Thursday, January 11. The committee said that they have currently managed to attract 1,754 volunteers.

Eris said that the number of volunteers is still underwhelming even though it was opened since September 2017 and selected in November 2017.

The selected volunteers are currently set to participate in the test event entitled Asian Games Invitational Tournament on February 10-24. However, the committee needs to add the number of volunteers before the 2018 Asian Games begins.

Eris stated that the number of selected volunteers, which needs to be at least over 18 years old, has gone through numerous stages of screening, such as administration, psychometric tests, and interviews.

The 2018 Asian Games volunteers will serve roughly around 12,000 athletes and officials from 40 countries and will be covered by 5,000 medias. It is scheduled to start on August 18 to September 2.
