TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno welcomed the proposal of traffic police directorate regarding the odd-even license plate policy for motorcycles. According to Sandi, the implementation of the odd-even system in two-wheeled vehicles will meet the principles of justice in driving in Jakarta.

"If the odd-even policy implemented to cars, there must be an element of justice; which is to implement the policy to the motorcycles," said Sandiaga Uno at JakGrosir Kramat Jati market, East Jakarta, Thursday, January 11.

However, the deputy governor admitted that he still discussed the technical implementation on the field with the team.

Sandi views the size of motorcycle license plate number which is smaller than the cars’, will make it more difficult to monitor the violation of the odd-even policy.

The police asked the Jakarta administration to make regulations on the implementation of odd-even motorcycle license plate number after the Supreme Court revoked the motorcycle ban policy.

"We have conveyed the suggestion to the governor, we'll also have a meeting this afternoon," said Jakarta Metro Police's Traffic Director Comr. Halim Pagarra.

The deputy governor explained that the process of regulating the odd-even license plate policy will continue to be discussed with the Traffic Directorate and Jakarta Transportation Agency as the stakeholders.

During the process, Sandiaga Uno hopes to have the input from transportation observers in Jakarta.
