TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has succeeded to speed up the distribution of the land certificate throughout the archipelago in 2017, thanks to President Joko Widodo or Jokowi. The president urged the Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Sofyan Djalil to publish 5 million land certificates.
"I've dealt with the minister at the beginning. [I said] the target is 5 million, if it is not achieved, you know what will happen," said Jokowi Wednesday, January 10.
Based on the data from Ministry of Agrarian Affairs, as many 5.26 million fields were registered to receive the certificates. However, from the total number, the government only able to give the certificates to 4.23 million fields due to the absence of some recipients during the certificate handover. Moreover, the ministry noted that there were 2,168 land disputes during 2017.
This year, President Jokowi sets a higher target, which is 7 million land certificates to be published. He considered the publication of 7 million land certificates will become easier because the Agrarian Ministry has succeeded to publish 5 million certificates last year.
Jokowi said the target is needed to simplify the Agrarian Ministry's work. Without a clear target, the ministry will not have a reference to be pursued.
