“The budgeting process was similar to the others. There was nothing extraordinary about it,” said Marzuki who is also a Democratic Party politician at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters on Monday, January 8.
He admitted that he was not aware of the value of project when it was handled by DPR’s Budgetary Board (Banggar). “Usually, the House Speaker is aware whenever there’s a commotion at the lower levels. If there isn’t any, it won’t reach the Speaker,” said Marzuki.

He also said that he never attended any meetings regarding the project since it was discussed by Banggar until the plenary meeting. Marzuki said such a matter was supposed to be discussed by the DPR Deputy Speaker handling finance affairs.
Marzuki Alie was dragged into the e-KTP graft case after his name was mentioned by Irman and Sugiharto, who claimed that Marzuki received Rp20 billion from the project. Marzuki has since denied the allegation.
