Former Jakarta Governor to Run for North Sumatra Governor

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Jakarta governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat has been nominated as candidate for governor of North Sumatra in the election in June this year.
The general chairperson of the ruling Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri, declared the nomination of Djarot who is the party`s cadre on Sunday.
Djarot would run for the post of North Sumatra governor with Sihar Sitorus as his running mate.
Former Jakarta governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat has been nominated as candidate for governor of North Sumatra in the election in June this year.
The general chairperson of the ruling Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri, declared the nomination of Djarot who is the party`s cadre here on Sunday.
Djarot would run for the post of North Sumatra governor with Sihar Sitorus as his running mate.
PDIP considered Djarot had made an achievement especially during his time as the Jakarta Governor.
Djarot became governor of Jakarta after accompanying Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as deputy governor.
Sihar Sitorus has so far been popular among the youth and known as a sports lover. He has also had good education and has been active in business and is now director of Care for Indonesia Forest Institute.
Megawati also announced the appointment of TB Hsanuddin and Anton Charliyan as candidates for governor and deputy governor respectively for West Java.
TB Hasanuddin is a retired army major general while Anton Charliyan is an active police Inspector General.
