TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that throughout 2017, money circulated to regions across Indonesia rose to 23.6 percent compared to the previous year. BI executive director of circulation management department Suhaedi stated that the amount of money reached Rp 311.1 trillion in 2017 compared to that of 2016 with Rp 251.6 trillion.
“Money was distributed to all work/cash units in Indonesia. We sent it by different modes of transport including land, water, and air if necessary,” Suhaedi said in Bank Indonesia office on Friday, January 5.

Suhaedi added that in the distribution of money, the central bank worked together with banks by opening cash offices. This is due to the fact that BI still has limited cash offices as many as 44 offices.
Since there are more than 515 districts or cities, Suhedi continued, Bank Indonesia has to work together with banks. "The offices were provided in areas that do not have BI cash services in order to meet the needs of such areas,” he explained.
