TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Special Task Force for the Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) announced that 2017`s oil and gas target was not met. Lifting volume only reached 98.93 percent of the target set in last year`s Amended State Budget.
"The 2017 state budget target was 1.96 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd), but the actual volume was 1.94 million boepd," SKK Migas chief Amien Sunaryadi said in a press conference in Jakarta, January 5.

According to Amin, oil lifting volume amounted to 803,800 bpd, or 98.6 percent of the target. Meanwhile, gas lifting volume reached 1.14 million boepd, or 99.2 percent of the target.
Amin said that a number of oil and gas contractors failed to meet their lifting targets due to several factors. Pertamina EP, for example, encountered technical problems, while Total E&P Indonesia was in a transition period of handing over its management at the Mahakam to Pertamina.
Additionally, Amin said that several oil and gas work areas are in development stages, thus they cannot maximize production. Of the 87 exploitation work areas, only 73 were in operations last year while 14 others were in development.
