TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has introduced the Financial Information Services System (SLIK), available in all offices in 37 cities as per January 2.
The system provides information of and by bank debtors as well as other financial services. It replaces the old Debtor Information System (SID) managed by Bank Indonesia (BI).
OJK deputy commissioner for strategic and logistics management Anto Prabowo said the SLIK system is an important infrastructure that industry players can use to mitigate risks and help reduce NPL.
In addition, Anto said SLIK can help shorten the time needed to obtain credit approvals. For new customers, especially SMEs, SLIK can provide a wider access to lenders that will assess the companies by looking at their financial reputation—without having to depend on their ability to provide collaterals.
"Finally, SLIK can encourage borrowers to maintain their credit score," he said.
These services can be utilized by calling OJK's call center at 157, or by visiting dedicated SLIK desks at OJK offices.
According to OJK's data, the number of financial services institutions registered as SLIK reporters has reached 1,648 as per December 2017. Among them are commercial banks, rural banks (BPR), financing companies, as well as savings and loan cooperatives.
