TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Agus Martowardojo is optimistic that 2018 economy will be more stable after the disruption in the previous period.
"2017-2018 period is better than we estimated after a downward market correction in the previous period. Currently, upward market correction is taking place and this is an opportunity. Indonesia needs to seize this opportunity," Agus said in Jakarta on Friday, Dec. 29.

Agus explained that Indonesia has succeeded in facing dynamics in the financial sector in 2017 full of volatility and challenges including the rise in The Fed interest rate as many as three times since the U.S. tax reform taking place at the end of the year.
Nevertheless, the volatility of rupiah to U.S dollar throughout 2017 is in the range of 3 percent, compared to 2016 with 8 percent. In addition, the capital inflow reaches Rp138 trillion, compared to 2016 with only Rp126 trillion.
