TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Terrorism expert Al Chaidar demanded the government to anticipate more cases of hoax in the new year. The hoax is intended not only to provoke conflicts but also to spark acts of terrorism.
"Hoaxes on religion, apostasy, human trafficking, gays, lesbians, HIV, and AIDS will increase. In addition, hoaxes on Jewish media and anti-Islamic parties need to be anticipated," Al Chaidar said on Tuesday.
Al Chaidar continued that people who believe in hoaxes can cause conflicts. Some who read hoaxes spread them instantly without verifying the news.
Hoaxes have triggered a number of acts of terror including the lone wolf pot bomb attack in Bandung and Vihara bomb attack in Jakarta. "It’s all because of hoax. Vihara was attacked because of hoaxes on Rohingya."
What is more important, Al Chaidar went on, Jakarta needs to maintain alert for a number of reasons since it is regarded idolatrous, it has statue monuments perceived to be worshipped by thogut, meaning people who disobey God's regulations. It is viewed as a center of secular government and the capital of unbelievers, he added.

Al Chaidar further mentioned that Tangerang and Bekasi are the most prone cities to terrorist attacks since a lot of terrorists reside in the areas. In addition, vital objects including police stations, government offices, and political party offices need to be guarded from potential arson in the new year.
