TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange`s (IDX) building today is busier than usual. In addition to preparing for the listing of a 37th issuer, the IDX will also receive a visit from President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo for this afternoon`s trade closing.
At the IDX's main hall, staffs are decorating the room and preparing sound systems after they wrapped up the IPO of Prima Cakrawala Abadi.
There's a red carpet going from the main lobby's entrance to the main hall of the building, while chairs are being covered in white sheets.
IDX director for development Nicky Hogan said the President had confirmed that he will come this afternoon.
"This is the first trade closing by the President. Usually, presidents attend the year's first opening. So this is a bit out of the ordinary," he said in Jakarta, Friday, December 29.
Nicky said that Jokowi is coming over the invitation of the Financial Services Authority. He said that the closing ceremony will be marked by the ringing of the closing bell, followed by a speech from the president.
Additionally, Nicky hopes that Jokowi will have a dialogue with market players. He also hopes that the index will close in the green zone. "Right now it has increased by 0.67 percent in the first half hour," he said this morning.
According to Nicky, the IDX is not enhancing security to welcome the president. Security measures will be conducted by the President's Security Force (Paspampres). "Standard only, security by Paspampres," he said.
