TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Novel Baswedan is scheduled to undergo a second major eye surgery on February 1, 2018. If the surgery is a success, the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) investigator is expected to have full recovery soon.
The Muhammadiyah Youth PP chairman Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said the surgery will be done after Novel's left eye membrane has fully grown.
"It could be sooner [than scheduled], or even later," Dahnil said in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 27.
According to Dahnil, if the second surgery is successful, Novel will recover fully one month after. "By March we can have Novel back," he said.
Novel's first major eye surgery was done at the Singapore National Eye Centre on August 17. Then, on December 6, he underwent a minor surgery.
Novel Baswedan was attacked on April 11 this year. He had hydrochloric acid (HCl) thrown at him by two unidentified men when he had just finished a morning prayer at a mosque near his home in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. The attack left injuries on his face and left eye.
To date, the police have not been able to capture the attackers.
