TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Striker Patrich Wanggai is hopeful of joining Persib Bandung after having a trial with the team on Monday morning.
“I was asked to join a training session. I don’t know what’s next. I just came to train,” Wanggai told reporters after the session.
The 29-year-old Papua man expected that Persib would be attracted to sign him. But he has left the decision to coach Roberto Carlos Mario Gomez.
“I definitely want it. It depends on the coach. And Persib is a huge team. I don’t know but I was asked to come by the coach and I came and is hopeful [of being hired],” he said.
Wanggai is leaving on a free transfer from Pusamania Borneo FC.
The striker said that he also received other offers but he only wants Persib Bandung. “There are [other offers] but I believe they [Persib] are the most serious one,” he said.
With Pusamania, Wanggai was not too prolific in Liga 1 2017, scoring a goal and an assist in 24 matches.
Persib Bandung blame their failure to compete with the league’s elites on the lack of goals by the forwards. Playing 34 matches, the Maung Bandung only scored 39 goals.
