TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police’s anti-terror squad, Densus 88, arrested an alleged terrorist in Bekasi on Wednesday morning, December 20. It is still unclear to which terrorist network the suspect with an initial of M is linked.

Muhtarudin, an eyewitness at the scene, said dozens of Densus 88 personnel, who were in a full gear and carrying rifles, arrived at the scene at 6:30 a.m. “They stopped at a helmet kiosk,” Muhtarudin told Tempo.

Several Densus 88 members stormed the kiosk that is also used as a place to stay for M and his family. Other personnel set the perimeter outside the kiosk and prohibited residents to take photos or videos on their cellphones.

“I was told not to take a video, and Densus 88 asked me to leave,” said Erik, another witness.

He also saw Densus 88 conducted a search inside the kiosk. Erik added that the squad personnel left the scene at 9 a.m.

Bekasi Metro Police chief Sr. Comr. Indarto confirmed that Densus 88 arrested a suspected terrorist in Bekasi. “We were only securing the perimeter,” Indarto told Tempo.
