TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Digital Fashion Week will be held for the first time in Jakarta, after being held in Singapore and Thailand in the last five years. The event is an online and offline platform to showcase local designer collections.

The fashion week will feature digital activities such as live stream via websites, YouTube and other social media platform. The digital access will allow the public to learn more about designers’ collections and find out behind the stage activities.

Digital Fashion Week Managing Director Carina Widjaja said that Jakarta has been chosen as the host due to its status as a fashion industry market. “We believe in fast, cheap and effective communication and digital marketing. We also expect to promote local designers and make the international community falls in love with local designers’ collections,” she said in Jakarta.

Carina added that the public can see the collections showcased by designers and buy the products through Retail Pop Up Store in Plaza Indonesia. The store will open for two months. Moreover, after a fashion show, the designers will present their collections featured in the Pop Up Store.

“The mission of every Digital Fashion Week is to hold an event with the runway, fashion forum, sales event, arts, charity events and in Jakarta we are focusing on finding solutions and actions that create real business opportunities instead of building brand awareness,” Carina said.

Digital Fashion Week 2017 will be held at Plaza Indonesia from 13 to 15 December featuring collections of leading international designers, such as Harry Halim (Paris), Chu Suwannapha (South Africa), Betty Tran (Australia), David Tlale (South Africa), Michelle Surjaputra (Lotuz, Indonesia) and Mariano Ippolito (Italy).
