TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan yesterday visited flood-stricken areas in Dukuh Atas. He said that a number of pumps were dysfunctional.
“There are six pumps, but only two are functioning normally,” Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said in the afternoon on December 11 at Dukuh Atas.
He said that it should have never happened, adding that the panels were broken.
Anies said that reports were actually made on the dysfunctional pumps two months ago. “It was reported on October 22 by an operator but no action had been taken whatsoever. It’s December already; it’s almost two months. We will take harsh actions against those who had failed to quickly respond to the flooding,” he said.
“We want to ensure that all infrastructures to respond to rainfall must be fully functional and today we have found some issues. We are currently working on fixing it,” he said.
The Governor said that he does not take the issue lightly. “It’s a fundamental, important issue,” he said.
Anies Baswedan said that the Jakarta administration will continue to monitor flooded areas. The reports are received every minute. We continue to monitor the development,” he said.
