TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) considers the U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision in recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel dangerous.
"It poses threats to the world’s stability," said Jokowi in his official statement at the Bogor Palace, December 7.
Donald Trump stated the official announcement on Wednesday in the Washington DC, saying that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s property and is in the process of moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

"We finally acknowledge the obvious, that Jerusalem is Israel's capital. This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality," Trump said.
Trump’s decision sparked critics from many parties. Many said that Trump did not aware of the root of the Israel-Palestine issue and that he had worsened the situation.
President Jokowi views that Trump’s move is contradicted by a number of international recommendations and regulations, such as the recommendation of the UN Security Council.
Jokowi will further ask for the United States to reconsider its state regarding Jerusalem or Israel. Meanwhile, he says that he would push the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) country members and the United Nations to hold a conference following Trump’s decision.

"The Indonesian Government has been communicating with the OIC country members to soon hold a special conference following the unilateral recognition. We also ask for the UN to soon hold a meeting," he said.
President Jokowi also asks Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi to obtain an explanation from the U.S. embassy in Indonesia.
