TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Millennial’s growing enthusiasm to travel as their main element of vacation has highlighted a distinctive character within the generation, which is their tenacity to hunt for promotional or discounted transportation tickets.
The latest poll conducted by the online accommodation reservation platform Agoda shows several things that Indonesian millennials would do to get the best bargain cost to spend in their travels.
The online poll was conducted in early November this year that involved more than 500 Indonesian respondents within the age of 25 to 34 years old. The following are the results.
The first thing is to search for promo prices. There is 76 percent of the respondents that hunt for promo voucher codes through the internet, 64 percent follow promo updates through news feeds and social media contents, 38 percent continuously refresh their internet page until the prices drop, 30 percent anonymously accesses an internet page to prevent the detection of their IP address.
The second thing is to journey on an internet ‘discount hunt’ through various sources. The poll shows that 73 percent open more than five internet tabs to compare prices. 44 percent enlist themselves in several loyalty programs even though they are not loyal to either brand.
There are also 45 percent respondents that register to several mailing lists to keep track of latest promos while 26 percent are registered to numerous credit cards at once to obtain the highest discount they can achieve.
The third point is in search for the best promo. Around 30 percent of respondents have created a chat group with friends where they share information regarding ‘secret’ promos. And then there’s 57 percent of them that plan their vacation far ahead of time to coincide with the dates of the promo prices.
