KPK`s Novel Baswedan Waiting to undergo Another Eye Operation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Spokesman Febri Diansyah said that KPK senior investigator Novel Baswedan is currently waiting for his left eye membrane to evenly grow following his surgery in replanting his left eye’s gum cells.

Novel Baswedan will undergo his second surgery after his left eye fully heals.

“The second operation can only be conducted after an even growth [in his left eye],” said Febri during a phone interview on Thursday, December 7.

Novel is currently undergoing a series of eye operation at the Singapore National Eye Center.

Around 90 percent of Novel Baswedan’s left cornea was burned after he was spattered with liquid acid on the early mornings of April 11, 2017. The attack against Novel was conducted by two unknown men when he was walking home from a Mosque.

Novel Baswedan`s eye has not fully recovered after 237 days following the attack. His attackers are also still on the run.
