Tempo News: Omah Munir Charity Concert Raises Rp900 Million

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A charity concert for the revitalization of Omah Munir Human Rights Museum held at the Indonesian National Library yesterday helped raised Rp900 million.
“We want to encourage public participation to improve the facility [at the museum],” Omah Munir official Mufti Makaarim said.
The event that started at 7 pm was hosted by senior journalist Najwa Shihab. Famous singers featured in the show, including Glenn Fredly, Tompi, Dira Sugandi and jazz musician Idang Rasjidi.
Unlike in other shows, the stars performed songs requested by the guests via an auction. The lowest bid lodged for a song during the show was Rp2 million, whereas the highest was Rp20 million.
Some Rp900 million was raised in the charity concert that will be used for museum development.
Omah Munir, established on December 8, 2013, is a designated museum for memorabilia of human rights enforcement in Indonesia. It was built on the house belonged to Munir Said Thalib, a human rights activist who died on board a flight from Jakarta to Amsterdam on September 9, 2004.
