TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) Ethics Council (MKD) will confirm the results of the probe against DPR Speaker Setya Novanto conducted at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building on Thursday, November 30, MKD deputy chairman Sarifuddin Sudding said.
Sarifuddin said the confirmation would be carried out by related individuals, such as DPR leaders and secretary-general.
“[The confirmation] will be conducted on Monday,” Sarifuddin told Tempo on Sunday, December 3.
Since the probe is still underway, Sarifuddin added, the MKD cannot yet determine whether Setya, who also serves as the Functional Group (Golkar) Party chairman, had committed ethical violations.
Earlier, Sarifuddin with other members of the MKD, namely Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Agung Widyantoro, and Maman Imanul Haq, came to the KPK building to question Setya Novanto in relation to an allegation of ethical violations.
On November 10, the KPK named Setya as a suspect for the second time in a graft case surrounding the electronic ID card (e-KTP) procurement project. Earlier on July 17, the KPK named Setya as a suspect in the same case. However, on September 29, the South Jakarta District Court ruled on that the suspect naming was illegitimate.
