Jokowi Calls for Measures against Extreme Weather Impacts on Food

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has called on his administration to anticipate the impacts of extreme weather on food production. Although the impacts have not yet apparent, extreme weather is predicted to last until January.
“We must anticipate the impacts of extreme weather on food production,” Jokowi said at Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan on Saturday, December 2.

Therefore, the President expected disaster mitigation efforts prepared as well, particularly those related to the logistics sector.
Jokowi also called the public to remain on alert amid the extreme weather. Heavy rainfall, strong wind, and high wave could pose threats to the people.
President Jokowi has also instructed the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the Indonesian Military (TNI), the National Police, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), related ministries, and local governments to help to mitigate the impacts of extreme weather.
“Should there be a disaster, they must be ready,” Jokowi said.
