TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Alexis Hotel is once again the talk of the town following a rumor that suggests the establishment has changed its name to 4Play, which can be pronounced as foreplay.
Tempo paid a visit to the hotel and massage therapy center located in North Jakarta. The Jakarta regional government permanently revoked its business permit on October 31, 2017. The front of the place looked deserted with only one security guard safeguarding the lobby.
Around 10 meters to the left, a sign that reads Xis Karaoke 4Play can be seen. The sign stood exactly at the car entrance gate. The 4Play logo stood out with its red ‘4’ number overlaying its black background. The red twin-reflecting four also features horns, with an angel halo on top of it.

Weni, a street vendor who sells beverages nearby said she was unaware of the name change. “I didn’t know about it,” she said yesterday, November 27. However, she was certain that the establishment has seized operations since the Jakarta Governor revoked Alexis’ business permit.
The news of Alexis Hotel changing its name was refuted by one of the security guards at Xis 4Play. “It’s only for karaoke and disco bar,” said Hermanto yesterday.
Previously, Alexis Hotel managements denied rumors that they changed the name of their business. Alexis Hotel legal corporate Lina Novita said that 4Play is now a bar that provides karaoke services, a restaurant, and live music on its ground floor.
She explained that the business permit for Alexis Hotel and its massage therapy center was not extended by Jakarta Officials. “The business permit for other businesses has continued as usual,” she said Monday.
The One-Stop Integrated Service Agency (PTSP) and the Capital Investment Agency denied that they granted a new permit for Alexis Hotel to change its name into Xis 4Play.
