TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Deputy Speaker Mohamad Taufik said that the council’s work visit budget will be slashed to Rp67.7 billion from the initial submission of Rp107.7 billion.
“The budget for the work visit has been evaluated around Rp40billion,” said Taufik at the DPRD headquarters on Tuesday, November 28.
Taufik said that the original budget of Rp107.7 billion was suggested by the council’s secretariat (Sekwan) and not from members of the council. He claims that council members only submitted work programs.
The allocated budget, according to Taufik, is the maximum amount that can be submitted to fund a one-year period. Taufik said that not all of the accepted amount of funds will be spent on work visits alone.
He suspects that it was a budget miscalculation, especially considering that it refers to Presidential Decree No 18/2017 that was ratified in August of 2017.
Previously, DPRD secretariat submitted a budget of Rp346.5 billion in Jakarta’s 2018 Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget Plan (APBD). One of their programs that caused public outcry was the DPRD work visit budget of Rp107.7 billion.
