TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Herry Trisaputra Zuna said that the target to realize 1,852 kilometers of toll road by the end of 2019 was unchanged.

"The target is to achieve 1,852 kilometers by the end of 2019," Herry stated at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) on Friday.

According to Herry, the length of the toll roads built by the working cabinet until the end of November 2017 was 332 kilometers, which had increased by about 156 kilometers compared to 2016.

Overall, the length of toll roads already operating in various regions of the Republic of Indonesia is 1,089 kilometers.

The toll road segment being developed, among others, is the Solo-Ngawi segment, Ngawi-Kertosono and Lampung to Ciawi-Sukabumi toll roads.

Building toll roads is not as easy as buying a car where the goods can directly be obtained as soon as there is money, he warned.

The head of BPJT argued that the challenges encountered included weather and land acquisition.

Earlier, Herry stated that the government was targeting Trans-Java toll roads from Merak in Banten to Probolinggo in East Java, to be connected by 2019.

He said that the pre-construction phase of the the 170.36 kilometers Probolinggo-Banyuwangi national strategic toll road project had been accelerated and would enter the construction phase in mid-2018.

After the price negotiation phase is completed, the Toll Road Concession Agreement (PPJT) will be finished early next year.
