TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- A team of doctors from the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) will examine the health condition of the electronic identity card (e-KTP) corruption suspect Setya Novanto. The Golkar Party chairman was involved in a car accident on Thursday.
IDI secretary general Moh. Adib Khumaidi said they have been contacted the KPK. The anti-graft commission, he said, asked IDI to help check the medical conditions of the House of Representative's (DPR) speaker.
"We have the letter (from KPK), they sent it this noon," Adib told Tempo in Jakarta, Friday, November 17.

Adib said the examination by IDI doctors is aimed at providing a second opinion on Setya's condition. Before that, said Adib, the team of doctors will request data from Medika Hospital.
The second opinion from IDI, he added, will determine whether or not Setya can go through with his trials.

On Thursday night, Setya was rushed to Medika Hospital in West Jakarta, after the car he rode in crashed onto an electricity pole in Permata Hijau. Today at noon, the sixth suspect in the e-KTP bribery case was transferred to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Central Jakarta.
KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said the transfer for investigation purposes. Setya's lawyer Fredrich Yunadi said that one of the reasons for the transfer was that the MRI at RS Medika is damaged.
