TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators were only able to search the house of Setya Novanto on Wednesday night, November 15. The KPK was unable to apprehend the electronic identity card (E-KTP) corruption suspect because he left before they arrived after being picked up by a man.
Setya's lawyer Fredrich Yunadi said he had communicated with the House of Representative's speaker before the man mysteriously disappeared.
Fredrich was at Setya's home when the KPK arrived with an arrest warrant for the Golkar Party chair, as well as a search warrant to search his client's home.
According to Fredrich, he and Novanto last met at the DPR building in Jakarta after his client attended the afternoon plenary session.

Novanto also asked Fredrich to meet him at his residence in South Jakarta at 19:00. But at about 18:30, according to Fredrich, he was no longer able to contact the man.
"I asked his aide," said Frederick. The aide said that Setya left the house after being picked up by a guest. Fredrich said he has no idea who the guest was.
Novanto told his aide to tell Fredrich to wait for him. After waiting for quite some time, Fredrich was surprised by the arrivals of six KPK investigators planning to arrest his client. The KPK men were accompanied by Brimob officers.
To date, Fredrich doesn’t know where Setya is. Even Deisti, Setya's wife, doesn’t know.
"We cannot contact him—which means that something must have happened. I am very worried and Ibu (Deisti) is also worried," Fredrich said.
The KPK is still looking for Setya Novanto. The anti-graft agency considers putting the House speaker's name on its most wanted list.
