TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expects that the issuance of the Government Regulation In Lieu of Law No. 2/2017 on Mass Organizations (Perpu Ormas), that has been passed into law, will no longer be questioned.
“I earlier said that I had prepared a perpu. I’m responsible for it,” he said in Manado, North Sumatra, on November 15.
According to Jokowi, Perpu Ormas will become a strong foundation to prosecute anti-Pancasila organizations.
Perpu Ormas was passed into law by the House of Representatives on October 24.
Three house factions proposed revisions to Perpu Ormas, namely the United Development Party (PPP) faction, the Democrat Party faction and the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction.
The proposed revisions include the need to have the judicial mechanism in place to disband mass organizations. Moreover, many have questioned the article on the prosecution to members of banned mass organizations.
