TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Sukabumi RegencyWest Java, is the largest bottled water supplier (AMDK) to Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) reaching around 75 percent of supplies.

"From data that we received, 75 percent of bottled water in Jabotabek is supplied from Sukabumi," House of Representatives member Dewi Asmara stated in Sukabumi on Saturday (11/11).

Sukabumi Regency has abundant source of water that causes bottled water companies to establish their business both with the status of foreign direct investment (PMA) and domestic investment (PMDN). There are more than 10 brands of bottled water established mostly in Cicurug district.

However, she believed, transportation infrastructure has been a major obstacle. It takes 6 to 10 hours to reach Jakarta from Sukabumi. As a result, she highly appreciates the attention given by central government to accelerate development of transportation infrastructure including toll road, double railway track and airport.

When all transportation infrastructure is completes, distribution of goods like bottled water and food will be faster and this will boost local economic growth, Dewi Asmara explained.
