TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Finance Minister Sri Mulyani has named ride-hailing company Go-Jek as a tax agent. The latter has been given the status as a tax application service provider (ASP). Taxpayers can now apply for a tax identification number (NPWP) and submit their annual tax return (SPT), among others.
“Minister [Sri Mulyani] has endorsed Go-Jek’s wish to become a tax agent,” the Directorate General fo Tax official Iwan Guniardi said yesterday.
Iwan said that it did not take long for Sri Mulyani to give her approval because the Finance Ministry already has the regulation and policy in place on ASP or digital taxation service provider. “With the solution, tax compliance is expected to improve,” he said.
Founder, CEO of Go-Jek Nadiem Makarim said that he discussed financial technology (fintech) with the Finance Minister.
He said that Go-Jek backs the government’s vision to provide easier access to Indonesian people to financial services in a bid to boost the economy.
Meanwhile, Bank DKI Business Director Antonius Widodo Mulyono said that the cooperation between the bank and Go-Jek is aimed at increasing the number of users of digital payment feature Jakarta One (JakOne) Mobile. The cooperation covers electronic money interoperability, payment ecosystem interconnection and expanded tax and levy payment network.
He said that the partnership will make JakOne Mobile more attractive. There are currently 20,000 users of JakOne Mobile.
Antonius said that Bank DKI is aiming to attract 5 percent of Go-Jek users to make transactions with JakOne Mobile. He estimated that there are over 50 million Go-Jek users in Indonesia.
