TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Setya Novanto was invited to the wedding of president Jokowi’s daughter, Kahiyang Ayu, today, Nov. 8.

Setya sat in the front row together with other political party figures beside Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar. The Golkar party chairman wore a black suit and a red tie.

Throughout the wedding ceremony, Setya seemed to be not engaged in conversation with other guests. He could be seen closing both eyes several times.

However, Setya denied that he was half-asleep or feeling drowsy and instead defended that he was showing devotion towards the wedding prayer that was taking place.

“I was paying attention to the prayer [that was taking place],” said Setya Novanto while asserting that the procession of the marriage covenant (akad nikah) is sacred and must be respected.

Several national figures attended the wedding of Kahiyang Ayu and Bobby Afif Nasution include Megawati Soekarnoputri, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and Jusuf Kalla. Ahmad Rafiq (Contributor)
