TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani has met Gojek CEO Nadiem Makarim to discuss the development of financial technology (fintech) in Indonesia.
Makarim said that Finance Minister Sri Mulyani wanted to know more about fintech in general and the ever-growing digital revolution.
“About digital revolution, about fintech revolution and consumer behavior in other countries. It will be discussed further,” he said.
Moreover, they also discussed the use of fintech to boost financial inclusion.
“Digital revolution is not only about fintech but also all kinds of areas and it takes place vertically. Imagine if all people have the access to financial inclusion, they will be able to improve their lives,” Nadiem added.
Meanwhile, an official of Directorate General of Tax, Iwan Guniardi, said that the meeting also discussed Gojek’s plan to become a tax agent.
Iwan said that Gojek is expected to become an application service provider (ASP) that can help optimize tax collection.
By granting ASP permit to Gojek, the app-based transportation and service company will become a service provider of tax identification number (NPWP) application and annual tax return.
