Indonesians` Understanding About ASEAN Still Low

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesians have very little knowledge on cooperation among ASEAN countries. In 2015, only 24 percent Indonesians were familiar about the cooperation, Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Directorate General of ASEAN cooperation Ashariyadi said in Batam on Friday, Nov. 3.

He expects that a cooperation with higher education in which the ministry is doing with Batam International University (UIB) can further disseminate the role of ASEAN.

"We hope that such measures can turn students into agents of dissemination on ASEAN," Ashariyadi stated while signing memorandum of understanding for cooperation in education, research and community services with UIB.

He explained that the cooperation with UIB was arranged since the university also has branches in two neighboring countries, thus making it a good member of University Network.
