TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department Tinia Budiarti revealed that the decision to close down Hotel Alexis was based on the findings of Anies Baswedan`s internal team, which was formed even before Anies was inaugurated as Jakarta Governor.
“Governor Anies’ internal team had been monitoring activities at Hotel Alexis since mid-August,” said Tinia on Wednesday, November 1.
Tinia further explained that the business permit of Hotel Alexis had actually ended on August 29, but Alexis management only submitted a renewed online permit on October 14 under the business permit reregistration submission to the integrated one-stop service office (PTSP).

Following a direct order from the governor, according to Tinia, PTSP delayed the business permit renewal process while waiting for the report of the internal team. Alexis managements then sent a letter questioning about the delay on October 26.
“A day after the letter arrived, Jakarta administration decided not to process Alexis’ business permit reregistration,” she said.
The governor’s internal team claimed they found prostitution activities on the fifth and seventh floors of Hotel Alexis that violate Article 43 of Regional Regulation No. 8/2007 on public order. The team also backed their report with supporting evidence from media reports and public complaints.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has yet to respond or confirm to the team’s findings as referred by Tinia.
