TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PLN West Java initiates the supply of electricity to 233 hamlets in several regencies of the province. The electricity will be distributed through 197 kilometers.
The cables will bring electricity to the hamlets, which are located within 156 villages.
The company's general manager Iwan Purwana said by February PLN will provide electricity to 658 more hamlets in West Java.
During the launching ceremony in Tasikmalaya on Thursday, Iwan called on the people to help maintain the company assets. "Let's guard this. And I thank the residents who allowed us to set up electricity poles in their neighborhoods," he said.

According to Iwan, the ratio of households that have electricity in West Java is 98.5 percent. He hopes that by 2018 the remaining 1.5 percent will have power in their homes.
West Java Deputy Governor Deddy Mizwar said the provincial government has budgeted Rp50 billion this year to help residents who haven't get electricity service in their homes.
Deddy said that the availability of electricity will improve villages' development by allowing villagers to be more productive. Additionally, he said, and school children will study better.
