Citilink Opens New Flight Route between Jakarta and Silangit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost carrier Citilink Indonesia has opened a new flight route between Jakarta and Silangit, North Tapanuli. The new route is expected to boost foreign tourist arrivals, trade and investment in Lake Toba, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said during the airline’s Silangit maiden flight.
“The inauguration of Silangit Airport as an international airport will expedite the achievement of the government’s target [to boost tourist arrivals] and turn North Sumatra into one of the focal points in meeting the target,” he said.
The direct flight from Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma airport to Silangit use Airbus A320 Neo with a capacity of 180 passengers.
It was the sixth flight route to have been opened this year by the airline after those to Jayapura, Dili, Kendari, Gorontalo and Ambon.
Citilink Indonesia will soon open new flight routes between Java’s Semarang and Sumatra’s Palembang as well as Semarang and Kalimantan’s Banjarmasin.
