TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained Nganjuk Regent Taufiqurrahman and four others for bribery.
“The KPK is detaining five suspects for the next 20 days for investigation purposes,” spokesman Febri Diansyah told Tempo on October 26.
Nganjuk Regent Taufiqurrahman, Education and Culture Office Head Ibnu Hajar and local school headmaster Suwandi allegedly took bribes from Nganjuk Hospital General Affairs Head Mokhamad Bisri and Environment Office Head Harjanto.
The money was allegedly handed over by Nganjuk Regent’s confidants in relation to civil servant management for the 2017 term.
The KPK seized Rp298 million from Ibnu Hajar and Rp149 million from Suwandi.
Nganjuk Regent, Ibnu Hajar and Suwandi are being charged under Law No. 31/1999 as amended by Law No. 20/2001 on Corruption Eradication in conjunction with article 55 (1) I of the Criminal Code.
